Mühlegasse 5 – Opfikon
Residential and commercial · 3 apartments
For the building at Mühlegasse 5 in Opfikon (ZH), comprising three apartments and a commercial area, a Separatus geothermal probe system was planned and selected to replace the existing oil heating system. Seven boreholes were drilled, each 135 m deep and 110 mm in diameter. Groundwater limited the maximum drilling depth to 140 m. The new heat pump has a heating capacity of 33 kW and a cooling capacity of 26 kW. The commercial use and associated longer operating hours were taken into account when determining the required total borehole length. The consultancy covered technical sizing and supervision of all works, including connection to the manifold. The reference report states that the Separatus probe delivers 15% higher performance than a conventional duplex geothermal probe.
